Some renters, flat owners and households with only on-street parking can receive up to £500, subject to scheme rules. An owner-occupier living in a house with a private driveway is not automatically covered by the main residential grant.
Long cable runs, trenching, a detached garage, consumer-unit work, earthing changes, load management and upgrades requested by the network operator can all change the quote.
New private chargepoints sold for homes and workplaces in Great Britain are generally subject to smart-charging requirements. A suitable connected charger can also help schedule charging in cheaper periods where the tariff supports it.
Do not assume a grant can be claimed retrospectively. Check the exact application and installer process before ordering or starting the work.
